Netskope Launches India Management Plane to Support DPDPA Compliance and Data Sovereignty

Netskope Launches India Management Plane to Support DPDPA Compliance and Data Sovereignty

Netskope expands its India infrastructure with a Mumbai-based management plane aimed at helping enterprises meet DPDPA, RBI, and SEBI cybersecurity compliance requirements.

BENGALURU — Netskope has introduced a new management plane in India as part of its NewEdge network expansion, strengthening its local infrastructure to support Indian enterprises navigating rising data sovereignty and cybersecurity compliance requirements.

The company said the management plane, located in Mumbai, extends Netskope’s existing NewEdge infrastructure across eight Indian data centers and is designed to help organizations comply with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDPA), along with sector-specific regulations such as the Reserve Bank of India’s IT and security requirements and the Securities and Exchange Board of India’s Cybersecurity and Cyber Resilience Framework (CSCRF).

India’s DPDPA framework has increased focus on local data residency and stricter handling of sensitive digital information, particularly for government entities, financial institutions, and critical infrastructure operators. The shift has pushed global cybersecurity and cloud companies to expand local infrastructure capabilities as enterprises seek technology partners that can support sovereign data operations within India.

Netskope said the management plane governs administration of its security services and hosts customer policies, user configurations, metadata, and logs. By localising this orchestration layer, the company said Indian customers can maintain security operations and sensitive data within the country while still managing hybrid policies for cross-border data transfers where required.

The deployment is part of Netskope’s broader NewEdge infrastructure, a private network spanning more than 120 data centers globally. The company said the network ranks 12th worldwide in terms of Internet Exchange participation.

The expansion also strengthens Netskope’s position in India’s growing Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) market, where enterprises are increasingly combining networking and cybersecurity functions to support cloud adoption, AI deployments, and distributed workforces.

Nageshwaran C said the local management plane provides greater flexibility over data handling and residency requirements.

“It is great to see our collaboration with Netskope continues to deliver value as they expand their local infrastructure. The availability of a management plane in India is crucial for us, as it gives us flexibility to define exactly how and where our data is handled,” he said.

“Data residency and sovereignty are increasingly important topics, especially in the context of rapid AI adoption and data sprawl. Having Netskope handle the compliance heavy lifting gives us peace of mind regarding the DPDPA,” he added.

Ajay Gupta said demand for local data residency capabilities is increasing among Indian organizations amid regulatory changes and rising cyber risks.

“In this context, the addition of a management plane in India was essential for us to meet the increased data residency and sovereignty requirements sought by the fast-growing volume of Indian organizations using the Netskope platform,” Gupta said.

The company added that the deployment also supports its ecosystem of channel partners, managed service providers, and managed security service providers operating in India, enabling them to offer more granular policy and data location controls to enterprise customers.

India has become a major growth market for global cybersecurity providers as enterprises accelerate cloud migration, AI adoption, and digital transformation initiatives while facing tighter compliance and cyber resilience requirements.
